                             Joshua Cha McGrath

 

Joshua is an abstract painter who lives and works in La Crescenta, California. A native of Los Angeles County his vibrant paintings and prints take the place of speech as his primary method of communication. His distinctive style expresses his full range of emotions, happiness and strength.

 

Gorgeous abstract visions, bathed in color and fine leaf like articulation are the hallmark of his work. Upon viewing his paintings, one can not help scanning the portraits for signs of nature, birds, fish, butterflies, etc. Joshua takes his inspiration from nature, hiking, camping and the people around him.

 

As a child Joshua would sit and draw endlessly on large sheets of paper. Now as an adult his love for paints, acrylics and metallic acrylics is insatiable. He is a very productive artist, creating finished pieces in a single burst of inspiration. Joshua works anytime day or night and is more often, himself, covered in paint than not.

 

Joshua does not have good use of speech and creates as a primary way to express himself. Sometimes wild and powerful use of colors and brushstrokes, sometimes fine intricate work with slow gentle movements. Joshua finds comfort and solace in art as he releases his emotions into each application and movement of paint across the canvass. His choice of colors and technique are based on emotion and he begins each painting without hesitation or fear of making mistakes or concern for what others might think.

 

Joshua’s circle of support: those people most involved with Joshua throughout the years are all overjoyed and amazed with his talent and the beauty of his paintings. The pride his parents, relatives, loved ones, teachers, and assistants feel, is only matched by the pride Joshua feels about himself when he creates and shares his art with others.
